RSBot Script Licenses are now monthly

Recommended Posts

Chris

Good day, botters!

In the interest of transparency I wanted to quickly announce this so people were not caught off-guard when renewing or purchasing scripts, licenses are now monthly. Prices however have not been reduced, though we will discuss with their respective authors and confirm that they still feel the price point is fair - however we have reviewed internally and believe that the pricing is both competitive and fair for the amount of work (both in their creation and on-going development) put into the scripts.

This change will allow scripts to be more easily and frequently assessed to ensure the products you are purchasing are fit for use in the current time, and will give script writers more incentive to ensure their scripts stay up to date with the latest game features. It may also help script writers retire certain scripts in favour of working on other scripts as they will no longer be locked into development for such a long period. We hope that while at face value this may seem like a disadvantage for you as a consumer, you are able to see the bigger picture that we see and the advantages that there are.

Existing licenses will not be affected.

You may also use the following coupon for 30% off within the next 24 hours.

Just to be a little more transparent as to why this change occurred. I have written a couple of these below.

Please note these changes do not have to be final. Your feedback is much much appreciated and we would love you to contact us via our Contact page and let us know any feedback you have.

Increase and/or maintain the overall quality of scripts

At powerbot we pride ourselves on the quality of our scripts, we think our creators do an amazing job. With this said, as a company we do have to plan for the future and every possible angle. In the past we have seen some script authors get bored of the RuneScape scene and their work has steadily gone downhill until their contract with us was terminated and a replacement was found. With shorter licenses scenarios like this should not occur, this is because script writers are no longer locked into overly long licenses forcing them to work on and maintain a script that a) they are not passionate about b) they aren't making money from c) they can't maintain for any reason. Prior to this change every time someone purchased a license the author was effectively locked in for another 99 days, however now they are only locked in for 30 days. While this works much in their favour for the above points, it also works in our favour as a company and allows us to more frequently review the quality, functionality, and state of the script. If a script is not to our standards we are also in a better position now to reach over and pause new purchases and ensure the script is worked on in a timely manner.

To sufficiently reward the script authors for their work

Selling digital work online is not as simple as you might think. So the basics, as a company based in the United Kingdom - we have to pay tax. If you purchase a script then immediately we are paying 20% VAT on your purchase. In addition to this we have gateway fees and administration fees for handling the payment and maintaining the platform. Furthermore, when we release the funds to our script writers they will keep a receipt of this and once a year they will file their own taxes, paying out further by anything between 10% and 40%. Even our most costly script when licensed for 99 days is not putting that much in anyones pockets. We really appreciate you purchasing from us, and this is not to belittle your contributions whatsoever, money is money. Our authors are highly talented individuals however so in order to keep them creating products for RSBot or RS in general they need to be rewarded.
